The Dreadnoughts were armed with powerful foreward-firing rockets, and typically loaded with 31 "Bean" fighters.  The typical tactic for "Bean" fighers was to stay close to the enemy, firing its small laser cannon repeatedly.  The tactic worked excellently in deep space, where the "Blue-type" Dreadnought was most often deployed, but was ineffective in strong gravity wells.
