William B. Ellern's stories

No doubt about it .  Smith authorized Ellern to play in his universe.  This statement appeared in the April 1966 issue of Analog . 

The cover of Analog  April 1966.  This issue contained "Moon Prospector," a story taking place at the same time as First Lensman .  I am not entirely certain if the vehicle depicted on the cover is a military or mining crawler.  Art by Kelly Freas. 

Ellern's second Lensman Universe story, "New Lensman," was serialized in Perry Rhodan  issues 61-74 in 1975.  It took place around the same time as "Moon Prospector." 

"Moon Prospector" and "New Lensman" were rewritten together in 1976 to form a novel, New Lensman .  Here's a scan of the original (?) UK edition. 

I found this cover scan of the Italian translation of New Lensman , Cristalli Viventi . 

Ellern also wrote a story called "Triplanetary Agent," which was serialized in Perry Rhodan  numbers 100-104 or 100-105.  I haven't added those to my collection yet, so scans will have to wait . . .
